In order to carry out the project Collecting and conserving objects and adjusting exhibition content and design at the Thanh Hóa Museum phase 2010-2020 and the plan of object collecting in 2014 as well as to commemorate the 90^th year since the discovery of Đông Sơn Culture, the Thanh Hóa Museum has collected eight bronze drums, five of which are of Heger I type, two of Heger II type, and one of Heger III type. They all were found in the area of .

1. Xuân Châu III bronze drum (Heger I type, group C) was discovered in Xuân Châu Commune, Thọ Xuân District, .

-        Bottom diameter: 65cm;

-        Height: 43.5cm.

2. Bá Thước bronze drum (Heger I type, group Đ) was found in Bá Thước District, .

          Dimension:

-        Head diameter: 53cm;

-        Bottom diameter: 47.5cm;

-        Height: 33.5cm.

3. Nam Giang bronze drum (Heger I type, group B) was discovered in Nam Giang Commune, Thọ Xuân District, .

          Dimension:

-        Head diameter: 49cm;

-        Bottom diameter: 57cm;

-        Height: 41cm.

4. Thọ Xuân bronze drum (Heger I type, group C) was discovered in Thọ Xuân District, .

          Dimension:

-        Head diameter: 28cm;

-        Bottom diameter: 28.5cm;

-        Height: 21.5cm.

5. Cẩm Thủy bronze drum (Heger II type, group B) was found in Cẩm Thủy District, .

          Dimension:

-        Head diameter: 80cm;

-        Bottom diameter: 78.5cm;

-        Height: 55cm.

6. Hiền Kiệt bronze drum (Heger III type) was discovered in Hiền Kiệt Commune, Quan Hóa District, .

          Dimension:

-        Head diameter: 43.4cm;

-        Bottom diameter: 32cm;

-        Height: 28cm.

7. Tú Sơn II bronze drum (Heger II type, group D2) was found in 2014 in Tú Sơn Village, Thành Tân Commune, Thạch Thành District, Thanh Hóa Province. It dates back to the period from 15^th century to 17^th century.

-        Height: 38cm.

8. Hà Yên bronze drum (Heger I type) was discovered in 2014 in Hà Yên Commune, Hà Trung District, .

          Dimension:

-        Height: 33cm;

-        Weight: 10kg

The collection of bronze drums that the Museum has newly obtained consists of valuable artifacts that are unique and rare. Especially, on the surface of Bá Thước bronze drum, there are statues of rhinos. This is the first time statues of rhinos were seen on the surface of a bronze drum. Also, it is the first time the Thanh Hóa Museum collected a Heger III type bronze drum (Hiền Kiệt bronze drum), which supplemented the Museum’s collection of bronze drums discovered in Thanh Hóa.

At present, a record of this collection plus the file of each artefact have been completed. The drums were put in the storage and have become a resource for people’s learning and research.
