In order to facilitate organizations and individuals who have not had opportunity to directly visit the Museum, for many years, the has focused on the organization of traveling exhibitions in parallel with its permanent exhibitions.

During 2001 through 2005, the Museum collaborated with the to bring the exhibition titled Việt Nam – 4,000 Years of Building and Defending the Country to 14 districts, towns, and city in the province to serve the people on the occasion of national and provincial celebrations.

In 2006, the Museum organized the traveling exhibition called Thanh Hóa in the Cause of Building and Defending the Country. Approximately 400 photographs, documents, maps, and quotations were presented systematically on 31 panels from the general to the specific. The exhibition talked about Thanh Hóa through historical periods: Pre-history (40,000 to 30,000 years ago); Period of feudal dynasties when the people fought for the country’s independence; Thanh Hóa’s patriotism and tradition of revolution (1858 – 1945); Thanh Hóa in the cause of building and defending the country (1945 – 1975); and Thanh Hóa in the Đổi Mới period.

The Museum has mainly cooperated with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism at district level to choose location for the exhibition and assign staff to guide visitors. Especially, those districts in mountainous area and remote area have always been given priority.

Until now, the has brought traveling exhibitions to 13 of 27 districts. In each location, the Museum’s exhibition has drawn thousands of visitors and left good impression in the people’s hearts.

Through traveling exhibitions, the Museum has contributed to the spread of cultural heritage values to districts, which has helped to raise awareness and responsibility of all citizens of the preservation and promotion of the country’s cultural heritage values.
