Volume 1 and volume 2 of the books were published in 2000 and 2002 respectively by the ’s that is now the Museum of Thanh Hóa Province. Volume 1 includes 23 articles; volume 2 consists of 25 articles. The articles introduce about typical monuments and famous landscapes of .

     has a rich history of building the country and the tradition of fighting against invaders. According to preliminary statistics, prior to 2000, the Province had 1,535 cultural and historical monuments and famous landscapes. Due to the rise and fall of history and the destruction of nature and man, many cultural and historical monuments and famous landscapes in Thanh Hóa, especially monuments of architectural art, have been destroyed or disfigured.

    In 2000, the Museum published the book Monuments and Famous Landscapes in Thanh Hóa, volume 1, including 23 articles that introduces typical famous landscapes in . The publication of the book aims to: 1) raise awareness of protecting and promoting the values of these historical and cultural monuments; 2) educate all classes of people, especially young generations of the Province, about the Province’s tradition; and 3) introduce and promote the Thanh area’s historical and cultural tradition to every people.

         Following the success of the volume 1 of the book, in 2002, the Museum published the volume 2. Of the 25 articles in this volume, there are three articles talking about archaeological monuments, 15 ones writing about cultural-historical monuments and historical figures, and 7 articles are about famous landscapes. The articles were written by the Museum’s staff and researchers.
