Bảng Môn Temple (Bảng Môn Đình) locates in the center of Hoằng Lộc Commune, Hoằng Hóa District, Thanh Hóa Province, which is 6km from the Thanh Hóa City to the northeast.

Legend has it that was built in the later Lê Dynasty. In over 21 competition-examinations from the 3rd year of Đại Bảo date (1442) to the fifth year of Thống Nguyên date (1527), there were 46 graduates of the pre-court competition-examinations in Thanh Hóa, eight of whom were from Hoằng Hóa.

Bảng has been regarded as a symbol of honoring learning tradition of the village. Whenever there was a graduate who passed the first rank of doctorate, the welcome became a festival of honoring Confucianism. Thus, soon had a stamp of an ancient village school of Việt . It played a similar role as that of the of (Quốc Tử Giám) in the and of the Examination Compound in the province.

At present, is the greatest work of Hoằng Lộc Commune. It has 5 apartments and a harem, which were structured according to the I shape and create convenience for the organization of community’s cultural activities.
