The is keeping more than 50 Đông Sơn bronze jars, some of which are displayed in the exhibitions. This is a collection of precious and rare antiques in the cultural treasure of Việt in general and of in particular.

According to partial statistics, until now, over 150 bronze jars have been found in . The bronze jars were distributed mainly in the plain and midland of Thanh Hóa, the most concentratively in such districts as Đông Sơn, Thiệu Hóa, Yên Định, Thọ Xuân. There are 30 bronze jars found in Thọ Xuân District. Đông Sơn bronze jars were also discovered in some mountainous districts such as Thạch Thành, Bá Thước.

Bronze jars, together with bronze drums, were characteristic and common utensils in the life of Đông Sơn people.

According to the shape of the jars (especially their mouths), they can be divided into two main types:

Jars with lids (the mouth was casted with relief line): This type of bronze jars was usually large that was decorated with rich patterns. Xuân Lập I bronze jars and Lam Sơn bronze jars are typical bronze jars of this type at the .

Jars without lids (no relief line on the mouth): This type includes 37 pieces. The feature of this type of bronze jars is that the height and width are nearly the same so their shape is almost square and solid.

* Small replicas of bronze jars: There are 11 pieces of this kind. They are very small and were used as assets that alive people divided to the deceased.

The collection of Đông Sơn bronze jars kept at the includes precious objects that are helpful for researchers who study about Đông Sơn Culture. The jars contributed to the assertion of the ancient Việt’s position in the progress  of Việt ’s history.
