Running the cooperation on organizing the exhibition for the 50^th anniversary of the first victory of Vietnam People’s Navy and the Northern Armed Forces (2-5/8/1964 - 2-5/8/2014) which will open in the 7^th July 2014, the Thanh Hoa museum did collect and borrow more than 100 objects from the Thanh Hoa naval veterans.  

The remarkable objects of these artifacts are the Mr. Hoang Bui Hai’s things, former ensign, commander of Gac Ma Reef (Johnson South Reef) of Truong Sa Archipelago () (now Deputy Chief of Staff, the Thanh Hoa Army Headquarters)

He said “In 1988, taking the duties to become commander of Gac Ma Reef, on the way to Co Lin Reef (Johnson North Reef), a naval battle for defending the sovereignty, took place between Chinese and Vietnamese forces. I did take part in this battle and got seriously injured. Then, I was treated in the 175 . During the time I was in the hospital, a lot of people did visit me. The shell fragments inside my body, my shirt got burn by shells…all were retained”

These are his remained things, reflecting violent naval battle, resoluteness in defending for sovereignty, sacrifices of the soldiers, intimate sharing of individuals and organizations for Mr Hai in particular and for naval soldiers in general.     

These artifact collection were displayed in the Thanh Hoa Centre of Exhibitions, Fairs and Advertisement, attracted a lot of visitor’s attentions. When leaving the exhibition, the things remained in every visitors are great admiration and deep gratitude for naval soldiers who did dedicate their best efforts to the defending cause of national sovereignty
